Muir Matters
The Voice of Muir of Ord
Muir Matters is the voice of Muir of Ord.
We share news, history and stories from the community in the village and the surrounding area.

Muir Matters is the voice of our village, we want it to reflect everyone who lives here and we want you to get involved!
Anyone can get in touch with suggestions, and if you have a story to tell then send it in! Contributions to our magazine don’t have to be polished; if it meets our content policy and is something of interest to people in the village, then we want to read it!
You can email us with finished articles or just ideas for articles. We are particularly keen to hear from people who haven’t published before so don’t be shy, we would love to hear from you!

Writing Competition
Winner
We asked for a short story with the title 'One day in Summer'.
We are very proud to announce our first winner of the new Muir Matters writing competition for the under 16s. The story you can read in the Summer issue was written by Isabella Scrimgeour-Parsons, who is 10 years old.
Her story has an abundance of imagination, is very engaging and she used beautiful language. Congratulations!
Photography Competition
Winner
Congratulations to Aileen Thom, winner of the photography competition from our Spring issue. Her photo, taken at Loch nam Bonnach, makes a fabulous front cover for our Summer issue.
The winning picture is on display in the Quack Pot cafe at the hub, alongside the other top 4 entries, from John-Alasdair MacAulay (2nd), Dave Chandler (3rd), Aileen Thom (4th) and Bettie Thom (5th).

Contributing to Muir Matters

Please send articles to MuirMattersMagazine@gmail.com.
-
Articles should generally be one or two pages long.
-
All articles should include at least one image. Generally, we prefer articles to have 2-3 images and the maximum that we generally accept is four.
-
Images should each be accompanied by a short caption and should be supplied as separate file in jpeg format.
-
The article text should be sent to us as a Word document whenever possible.
These are general guidelines only, as both the length and the number of images that are appropriate will depend on the article. Articles must not breach our content policy and must have local relevance, i.e., they must include some reference to the local area and be of interest to our local community.

Content policy

Muir Matters is the voice of Muir of Ord. We share news, history and stories from the village and information about clubs and organisations who are active in the village, along with their contact details.
The magazine covers Muir of Ord and it's immediate surrounds, which include Balvaird, Urray, Windhill, Orrin, Marybank and Mulbuie. We do not include any religious or political teaching and we will not promote the views or opinions of any one religion or political party. We particularly encourage contributions from residents, or those with a connection to the village, who have not published previously. The decision of the Muir Matters Communication Group is final.
